In the fall of 2023, Delta State University was awarded a $2,246,742 Title III Strengthening Institutions Program grant by the U.S. Department of Education. This is a 5-year grant starting October 2023 and ending September 2028.

Destination Graduationis a program to help current undergraduate and graduate students overcome barriers to continued enrollment and persist to graduation. Activity objectives to increase retention and reduce stop-out (withdrawing temporarily) include student support services such as summer bridge, supplemental instruction, tutoring, and increasing access and awareness of financial aid opportunities for our students. While these interventions are ongoing at DSU, this funding will strengthen these programs by providing supplemental instructors, interns, and staff fully devoted to these programs instead of the currently shared resources.

This program is 100% funded by The U.S. Department of Education under the Strengthening Institutions Program through Title III, Part A of the Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended.

Goals:

Goal 1: Academic Programs–Increase retention and graduation rates through summer bridge, supplemental instruction, tutoring, and increase access and awareness of financial aid opportunities.

Goal 2: Institutional Management–Increase capacity to serve targeted students and institutionalize practices across the university.

Goal 3: Fiscal Stability–Improve revenue stability by increasing student persistence in undergraduate programs through to graduation and into economically viable careers.
