How to Apply as an
Undergraduate Student

• Option 1: Complete the CPC with a minimum of 3.20 high school GPA on the CPC
• Option 2: Complete the CPC with a minimum of 2.50 high school GPA on the CPC or a class ranking in the top 50% of the class, and an ACT score of 16 or higher or a combined score of 880-910 on the SAT
• Option 3: Complete the CPC with a minimum of 2.0 high school GPA on the CPC and an ACT score of 18 higher or a combined score of 960-980 on the SAT
• Option 4: Satisfy the NCAA Division I standard for student-athletes who are “full qualifiers” are accepted as equivalent to the admissions standard

In the lieu of ACT scores, students may submit equivalent SAT scores. Students scoring below 16 on the ACT (composite) or the equivalent SAT are encouraged to participate in the Year-Long Academic Support Program during their freshmen year.

Application for Admissions. Applications are submitted electronically through the application portal via the Office of Admissions website.

1. Official Final High School Transcript. A seven-semester transcript is required prior to high school graduation for acceptance in lieu of the final. The official transcript must be mailed (or received through approved electronic means) from high school directly to the Office of Admissions. This item may be required for some transfers and will be notified if needed for acceptance.
2. Official Final College Transcript from all institutions attended. An in-progress transcript is required prior to college/university graduation. The official transcript must be mailed (or received through approved electronic means) from college or university directly to the Office of Admissions. Dual Enrollment/Dual Credit students must request this from the college/university. Collegiate grades on the high school transcript cannot be evaluated for credit.
3. Official ACT/SAT Score Report Test scores must not be older than five years. Test scores may be submitted on your official high school transcript. If required for a transfer student, the Office of Admissions will notify the applicant.
4. Immunization Record must verify two (2) injections for rubella, mumps, and measles vaccination or a titers test showing immunity.

The Office of Admissions will make an admissions decision upon receipt of all the above documents listed. You will be notified in writing if additional information is required for us to render an admission decision.

To be fully admitted and eligible to receive scholarships, official test scores must be sent on an official document sent from the high school or a testing agency to Delta State University, Office of Admissions: admissions@deltastate.edu.

Students may select Delta State’s college codes to request their scores be sent. For the ACT, the code is 2190, and the SAT college code is 1163.

If students participate in the Advanced Placement Program (AP), the school code is 1163. Be sure to list Delta State on the registration form so your test scores will be sent to us.

Applicants without a Diploma from a Regionally Accredited high school; Home-school Students; International Students:

The following are documentation requirements for specific groups of applicants:

Applicants who have completed high school from a school that does not hold regional accreditation must submit the following:

1. Transcripts reflecting academic performance or a secondary school leaving form
2. ACT or SAT scores

Home‐schooled applicants must submit the following:

1. Home‐school transcripts or portfolio summarizing home school education
2. ACT or SAT scores

Domestic applicants who have not completed high school must submit the following:

1. Qualifying scores on a state approved high school equivalency examination
2. Transcripts reflecting academic performance or a secondary school leaving form
3. ACT or SAT scores

International applicants who have completed an international or foreign high school may be admitted in another admissions category or must submit one of the following:

1. Transcripts reflecting academic performance or a secondary school leaving form
2. ACT or SAT scores

APPLICANTS TWENTY‐ONE YEARS OF AGE OR OVER

An applicant who is at least twenty‐one (21) years old and does not meet the regular freshman admission requirements may apply for admission as a non-degree seeking student. Non‐degree seeking students may enroll in a maximum of twelve (12) semester hours during a regular term, six (6) semester hours during a five‐week summer term, or equivalent hours for alternate terms as determined by the admitting institution.

To transition from non‐degree‐seeking to degree‐seeking status, students must satisfactorily complete twelve (12) hours with a “C” or better average in the general education core. Once admitted to a degree program, a maximum of eighteen (18) semester hours credit earned as a non‐degree‐seeking student may be applied toward a baccalaureate degree if approved by the dean of the college or school from which the degree is sought.

Students are not eligible for federal aid while under this decision of 21 and over (non-degree seeking students).

Should the testing agency cancel official test scores for tests used to make admission decisions described in this policy, the university will take the following action:

If classes have begun and the student is currently enrolled, the cancelled score/s will be removed from Banner and Recruit. Future course prerequisites will not be met using the cancelled score. Scholarship awards will be adjusted accordingly upon receipt of cancellation notice. The student will remain enrolled because he/she met admission requirements and was admitted in good faith prior to the test score cancellation; however, the need for intermediate coursework will be evaluated.

If classes have not begun, the cancelled score/s will be removed from Banner and Recruit and scholarship offers will be adjusted accordingly. The student may be asked to sit for a national test, residual ACT or Accuplacer depending on the date of test score cancellation and the highest valid score on file.

Transfer students who have completed an applicable associate degree, a higher-level degree or its equivalent, are exempt from freshman admission requirements. All other transfer students are subject to the freshman admission policy. Applicants must list all colleges attended on the application for admission. Failure to provide information about prior college attendance is grounds for disciplinary action, including immediate dismissal from the University.

To be classified as a transfer student, one must have attained a cumulative grade point average of a “C” or above on a 4.00 scale and earned a “C” average in the following thirty semester credit hours.

• 6 semester hours English Composition
• 3 semester hours College Algebra or above
• 6 semester hours Laboratory Sciences
• 9 semester hours Humanities and Fine Arts
• 6 semester hours Social or Behavioral Science
