February 2003Delta State University is honoring Mary Robbins, Senior Secretary in the department of CIS-OAD, as the Staff Employee of the Month for February. Robbins worked for Dr. John K. Abide for 17 years until his death. She came to work for DSU in August of 1983 as Secretary in the CIS -OAD Department. In July of 1994 she was named Senior Secretary and remains in that position today. |
March 2003Delta State University is honored Mary Hankins, Research Analyst in the Institutional Research and Planning Office, as the Staff Employee of the Month for March 2003. Hankins received a BBA in Banking and Finance from Mississippi State University in 1988 and will receive a BBA in Computer Information Systems from DSU in May. She began working at DSU in August 1994 as Senior Clerk in the Registrar’s Office and in November 2001 she transferred to her current position. She presented a paper at the Mid South Educational Research Association’s 2002 annual conference and was a facilitator at the Mississippi Association for Institutional Research’s 2003 annual conference. |
April 2003Joyce Campbell, Head Cashier in the Mill, was honored as staff employee of the month for April. She began working in the Mill in August, 1997 as a Grill Cook. She has worked her way to her present position as Head Cashier. Not only does Joyce run the cash register, but she maintains all the duties of the customer area on her own except for extremely busy times. Joyce is a graduate of East Side High School here in Cleveland. |
May 2003Elaine White, Custodian in the Student Health Services, was honored as staff employee of the month for May. She has been employed with Delta State since January, 1993. Elaine goes above and beyond the call of duty by being very helpful and friendly to the students. She is a graduate of South Panola High School in Batesville, Mississippi. She worked for several local florists prior to her employment with Delta State. |
June 2003Delta State University is honoring Stella Woods, Administrative Assistant in Human Resources, as staff employee of the month for June. Stella started at DSU in August, 1991 as Senior Secretary in the Mathematics Department. In January 2000, Woods transferred to the Human Resource Department as Senior Secretary. She was promoted to her present position in January, 2003. Before coming to Delta State, Stella was employed with Commonwealth National Life Insurance for 9 years. |
July 2003Delta State University is honoring Sandra Morton, Senior Secretary for Arts Education at the Bologna Performing Arts Center, as staff employee of the month for July. Since joining the staff at the Bologna Performing Arts Center in the summer of 2000, she has been VERY active with all the Children’s Matinees, Summer Arts and Summer Arts Plus programs. A native of Cleveland and a DSU alumnae, Sandra lived in Houston, Texas and San Francisco, CA before moving back nine years ago. While living away, she was in the Commercial Interior Design business. |
August 2003Delta State University is honoring Mose Bailey in the Shipping and Receiving Department at the Physical Plant as employee of the month for August. Mose started his employment with DSU on the ground crew in August 2000 and later moved to shipping and receiving. Before coming to Delta State, he worked at D& L from 1972 until they closed in 1993 and Modern Line from 1993 until they closed in 2000. Mose is a 1971 graduate of McEvans High School and has lived in Shaw, Mississippi all his life. |
September 2003Delta State University is honoring Janice Arnold, secretary in History, as employee of the month for September. Janice is a native of Ruleville and a graduate of Ruleville High School. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Education from Delta State. Janice began her employment with DSU as secretary in Institutional Research in 1970. In 1971, she left Delta State to manage a family business but returned in 1986 as secretary in the Alumni Office. Janice transferred to Student Affairs in 1989 to become Administrative Secretary to the Dean. In 1992, she moved to Tennessee where she lived for seven years before returning to Delta State where she has been secretary in the History Department since 1999. |
October 2003Delta State University is honoring Jessie Eatmon, grounds crew supervisor at the Physical Plant, as employee of the month for October. Jessie has lived in Cleveland most of his life. Before coming to work for Delta State, Jessie worked in maintenance at Simmons & Belk and Douglas& & Lomason. In August 1995, he started working in the DSU cafeteria and in May of 2001 moved to the physical plant. This past summer, Mr. Eatmon was promoted to his current position. Jessie is responsible for the crew that sets up facilities for special events, as well as, campus weed eating, edging and trimming. Jessie is a great asset to Delta State. |
November 2003Hattie Brandon, an H.L. Nowell Student Union Custodian, has been chosen as the November Staff Employee of the Month. Hattie began her work at Delta State on June 16, 1991 in Bond-Carpenter residence hall. In 1998, she was transferred to the Student Union building. A native of Shelby, Hattie attended school in Gunnison and later in 1992-1993 attended vocational-technical classes in Ewing Hall at DSU. Hattie is married to Will Brandon, Jr and they reside in Gunnison, Ms. |
December 2003Delisa Parker, an Administrative Secretary for the President’s Office, has been chosen as the December Staff Employee of the Month. Delisa is a native of Sarah, Mississippi. She attended Coldwater High School. She attended NWJC from 81-83’ where she received her Associate Degree. She transferred to Delta State University in the Fall 83’ and graduated in Spring 86’ with a BSW Degree. Prior to moving to Cleveland in June 93, she was employed for MS Employment Security Commission for approximately 6 ½ yrs. where she worked as an Interviewer I. She began her employment at Delta State University on September 13, 1993 in the Purchasing Office. She transferred to the President’s Office in July 1998. Delisa is married to Donny Parker. She has a daughter Allyson and a step-daughter Priscilla. She and her family currently reside in Cleveland, Mississippi. |
