Nebraska students take Delta heritage tour

By December 17, 2012General

The Delta Center for Culture and Learning at Delta State University recently provided a heritage tour to a group of 28 visitors from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. The visitors were members of a service-learning class on its way to Tuscaloosa to help with tornado cleanup. The group had not intended to visit the Delta until their instructor spoke with a colleague whose husband had attended a summer workshop provided by the Delta Center and funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities.  The instructor became so intrigued with the Delta’s cultural heritage that she contacted the Delta Center and arranged the visit.  The tour introduced the students to the Mississippi Delta National Heritage Area and included a day-long bus trip through the region.
