50/50 Bear Bucks Raffle raises funds for school-based asthma management

Delta State University’s School-based Asthma Management (SAM) program recently presented Janice Gillis of Cleveland (center) with a check for $467.50 as the winner of the 50/50 Bear Bucks Raffle. Presenting the check are Marquita Dorsey, AmeriCorps*VISTA  member with SAM (left), and Judith Winford, SAM program director (right).

The 50/50 Bear Bucks Raffle raised funds to support SAM projects for children that have asthma. Projects such as Wheezy Bear Asthma Camp, a five-day summer day camp; Air for Energy-Kung Fu, a program to educate on efficient breathing techniques; Rescue Me Boot Camps, a training program for parents; and Wheezy Bear asthma education appearances in schools are designed to provide information and knowledge to help children manage their asthma at home and at school.
