Desk Assistants are student employees who manage a residence hall lobby desk for visitation. They are responsible for checking residents and their guests in and out of the building. They greet visitors, residents and other residence hall staff. This position is a work study job and each employee works 10-12 hours a week. The shifts can begin as early as 3 p.m. and be as late as 2 a.m. daily.
Resident Assistants are student employees who mix with the entire resident population and maintain a sense of awareness and availability to ensure a pleasant and safe environment in the residence halls. RAs are the go-to people whenever a student resident has an issue in the residence hall. RAs serve throughout the academic year with such tasks as enforcing Housing rules, program planning, room checks, and assisting with repairs to name a few.
