Welcome to the Delta State University Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences. The Department offers pre-professional instruction leading to the Bachelor of Science degree. The curriculum is devised to bestow the student with an abundant knowledge of the normal processes of speech, language, hearing, and related functions. Graduates of the program are academically and clinically prepared for graduate-level study in speech-language pathology or related disciplines such as audiology, linguistics, special education, and psychology.

Our faculty are clinically certified and licensed in the State of Mississippi and our full time faculty members hold the national certification from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association. The expertise and experiences of the faculty encompasses the breadth of communication disorders. The Department is located in the College of Arts and Sciences in Kethley Hall on the campus of Delta State University in Cleveland, Mississippi.

Whether your goals are to pursue a graduate degree in speech-language pathology, a related area, or become a speech-language pathology assistant, you will find the Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences to be a student-centered program. Our faculty is committed to providing each student with the resources and skills they need to be successful while matriculating through the program. Students majoring in speech and hearing sciences are advised in a one-on-one appointment prior to registration each semester and faculty utilizes an open door policy throughout the academic semesters.
