 J.D. McPherson, Jr. is an interdisciplinary artist based in Broken Arrow, OK whose work encompasses video, installation, performance, curating and music.The exhibition includes new work, created specifically for the Wright Art Center, as well as selections of recent video work. The title for the exhibition derives from the Gospel of Thomas verse 77: “Cleave the wood and you will find me; lift the stone and I am there.” Drawing inspiration from Coptic texts and Zen practices, these selections investigate spiritual development through visuals metaphors of physical labor, farm equipment, and card magic.
