Guest Artist Recital: Dr. Patrick Rettger, tuba and electronics

Join us for an evening of contemporary tuba works. This recital will be performed by Jackson State University tuba instructor, Dr. Patrick Rettger. The program will feature repertoire composed for solo tuba and electronics.

The concert is free and open to the public.

Patrick Rettger is the instructor of Tuba and Euphonium at Jackson State University. Along with applied lessons, Dr. Rettger also coaches the JSU Brass Quintet (a select quintet comprised of some of the best musicians on campus) and is conductor of the JSU Tuba-Euphonium Ensemble.

He holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Music Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, a Master of Music degree in Tuba Performance from the Pennsylvania State University, and a Doctorate in Tuba Performance from University of Southern Mississippi.

Dr. Rettger has been an active musician across the Eastern U.S. as well as Europe and the Middle East for almost twenty years. He is currently a member of the Metropolitan Chamber Orchestra, the Mississippi Brass and Percussion, and the 41st Army Band where he serves as the NCOIC and drum major of the ceremonial band. His primary teachers include Gary Bird, Velvet Brown, and Richard Perry.
