Brexit and the Future of the European Union

Robert Ladrech is Professor of European Politics at Keele University, UK and Visiting Professor at the College of Europe, Bruges, Belgium. He took his Ph.D at the University of California at Santa Barbara in 1986 and has been a visiting professor at the Universities of Lille, France and Ljubljana, Slovenia as well as a Fulbright Research Scholar. He has published Social Democracy and the Challenge of European Union (2000) and Europeanization and National Politics (2010) and articles in journals such as Comparative Politics, Journal of Common Market Studies, Party Politics and European Journal of Political Research. His main research focus is the impact of the European Union on the domestic politics of its member states. He recently completed a project on Climate Policy and Political Parties, funded by the UK Economic and Social Research Council ($380,000), which explored centre-left and centre-right parties’ efforts to develop a position on climate mitigation policy in Denmark, Ireland, Italy, France, Germany and the UK.
