Be S.M.A.R.T Online Cyber Security Awareness Events
“Security Management Actively Reduces Threats” 

In recognition of National Cyber Security Awareness Month, the Office of Information Technology is hosting a series of informative sessions on how to better protect you and your data online.  The “Be S.M.A.R.T Online” series will be an ongoing effort to raise security awareness for our campus community through a series of informative sessions, workshops, and guest speakers.  Please join us for any or all of the events below!

Tuesday, October 26th

  • 9:30 a.m. Cyber Security Awareness for Faculty & Staff –  A fun and informative session on how to reduce your risk online, including some real-life scenarios and how to better identity phishing attacks.
     
  • 2:00 p.m.  Social Engineering, Identity Theft and Fraud,  Mike Tarcan, CCE, CFCE,
    Information Security Manager, SunGard Higher Education 
    – Mike will discuss how criminals target businesses and individuals for identity theft, bank fraud, credit card fraud, and other types of cyber threats.  Mike will go into detail on how the thieves obtain your information and what steps you can take to reduce the chances of falling victim to cyber threats. 
  • 3:30 p.m. Cyber Security Awareness for Students – An interactive, fun, and informative session on what you need to know to protect yourself and your identity online.  Special attention will be given to social networking sites and some of the inherent risks that you should be aware of before you update that profile!

Wednesday, October 27th

  • 2:00 p.m. Cyber Security Awareness for Faculty & Staff
  • 3:30 p.m. Cyber Security Awareness for Students
