Pretending to Be Poor Can Change Your Perspective: The DSU Poverty Simulation

Sponsored by the DSU Department of Social Work in collaboration with Belhaven College

No Cost Purpose:

To give participants a glimpse of what it is like to be poor and increase their understanding of and empathy toward people who are poor through a brief experiential learning experience as measured by a comparison of their pre- and posttests completed voluntarily before and after the simulation. Participants from the DSU Campus and the Community are welcome.
