CLEVELAND, Miss. — Delta State University is proud to announce that recent graduate David Cho is quickly making his mark in the field of broadcast journalism. This summer, Cho joined The Delta News in Greenville as a news reporter and has begun transitioning into producer roles with increased responsibility.

Cho’s journey to success is a testament to the well-rounded education and hands-on experience he received at Delta State. He first enrolled at the university in Fall 2018, pursuing a major in Entertainment Industry Studies with a concentration in Audio Engineering Technology. His academic excellence was evident as he was named to the President’s List six times during his tenure. Cho also actively participated in the Student Senate and was a key member of the DMI Band B4Y2K, showcasing his leadership and creativity.

Cho’s time at Delta State was interrupted by a two-year hiatus from 2019 to 2021 to fulfill his mandatory military duty in South Korea. Upon returning to campus in Fall 2021, Cho resumed his studies and completed his degree in Spring 2024.

Reflecting on his education, Cho credits the Delta Music Institute (DMI) for preparing him for the demands of his current role. “The skills I learned from the DMI are invaluable when it comes to editing my videos,” Cho said. His technical expertise, honed through the DMI’s rigorous program, has given him a competitive edge in the fast-paced world of news production.

Delta State University is proud to see one of its own rise in the ranks of journalism, and Cho’s accomplishments serve as an inspiration to current and future students. His story exemplifies the transformative power of a Delta State education and the boundless opportunities available to graduates.

DMI Director Dr. Richard Tremmel said, “David was an excellent and very curious Entertainment Industry Studies student. The skills and troubleshooting mindset he developed through the Audio Engineering Technology curriculum are serving him well as a multimedia reporter.”
