CLEVELAND, Miss. — The Delta Sigma Upsilon chapter of the Chi Sigma Iota at Delta State University will hold their Fall 2023 Initiation Ceremony on September 13 at 5:00 p.m. Chi Sigma Iota Counseling Academic & Professional Honor Society International is the international honor society of professional counseling and for professional counselors. The chapter will initiate of 27 new members this year.
Hailey Collins, chapter president said, “CSI is all about connecting with others. In CSI, students get the opportunity to not only connect with their peers but to also connect with the community in a meaningful way. It’s an organization that really helps me grow as a counselor.”
CSI currently has more than 160,000 initiated members, making it one of the largest single member organizations of professional counselors in the world. DSU CSI members participate in counseling and social justice related activities within the university and the community. Notable events include veteran appreciation activities, a college-wide blanket drive, and annual trips to the Mississippi State Counseling Association (MCA) conference at the State Capitol to advocate for the counseling profession. Honor society members are also actively engaged and volunteer their time and efforts in the annual Mississippi Counseling Association conference, as well as Delta State University’s Annual F.E. Woodall Conference for the Helping Professions.
New inductee Ashley Mason said, “To be considered for membership of this organization is incredibly validating for me. What we do as counselors is not easy, nor is the program we go through, and to be recognized in this light is an incredible accomplishment for myself and the other members.”
