What Can I Do with a Doctorate Degree in Nursing?

With a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), you unlock a wide range of career opportunities and enhance your impact in the field of nursing. Graduates can become Family Nurse Practitioners with a doctorate, providing advanced patient care, engaging in policy and advocacy, and offering consulting services. This degree also qualifies you to teach at both undergraduate and graduate levels in academic settings. While the core role of nursing remains the same, a DNP allows you to treat a broader spectrum of patients and opens doors to leadership positions, such as director of nursing or chief nursing officer, as well as executive roles in healthcare administration. Additionally, a DNP can boost earning potential and offers the flexibility to practice independently or in collaboration with physicians, depending on state regulations.
