Concert Ensembles

The Delta State University Wind Ensemble is the premiere concert wind and percussion ensemble at Delta State University. The Ensemble’s repertoire includes traditional wind band literature, as well as performances of new compositions in the ever-expanding wind band genre. Membership is by audition only and is open to any student who plays a band instrument. Auditions are held during the first week of each academic year. The Wind Ensemble performs several times each semester, both on campus and throughout the state. The Delta State University Symphonic Band meets only in the spring semester and performs new and traditional concert band works. Membership is open to any student who plays a band instrument. The Symphonic Band performs one concert per year. For more information about the Symphonic Band, please contact Dr. Josh Armstrong, Assistant Director of Bands, at jarmstrong@deltastate.edu.

Instrumental Chamber Ensembles including Saxophone Quartet, Flute Choir, Clarinet Choir, Low Brass Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, and Steel Pans are offered each semester. These ensembles provide opportunities for Delta State students to perform works for small ensembles in small group settings. Membership in the DSU Chamber ensembles is open to any student who plays a band instrument.
