Voice senior recital: Gunter McCourt on Oct. 5

The Delta State University Department of Music will present Gunter McCourt in his senior voice recital Oct. 5 at 1:40 p.m. in the Recital Hall of the Bologna Performing Arts Center. The recital is free and open to the public.

McCourt is a senior vocal major from Southaven, Mississippi, and is the son of Heather and Jim McCourt. He studies with Dr. Jamie Dahman, assistant professor of music at Delta State.

Since entering DSU in 2014, he has been involved with DSU Chorale, where he performs with the ensemble and serves as the tenor section leader. He has also been involved with DSU Men’s Choir, Add 9: Vocal Chamber Ensemble, and DSU Opera Workshop.

McCourt has competed in National Association of Teachers of Singing competitions and has placed in finals in both Regional NATS in 2014 and State NATS in 2015. He is a member of Mu Phi Epsilon professional music fraternity, and has served as the organization’s chorister since 2016. Additionally, he has served as a student advisor on multiple committees at DSU as a student advisor. These committees include the Dean’s Council, the OkraPatch Advisory Board, and the Student Advisory Committee for the Department of Music.
