Trees Cut on June 11

By June 11, 2019

Delta State University cut down 12 trees—seven oak, three Bradford pear, two pecan—on June 11, 2019, as part of the construction of the new president’s home. Trees had rotted and otherwise deteriorated; some were growing over underground utility lines.

Once construction is completed—tentatively scheduled for summer 2020—new trees will be planted on the site as part of an overall landscaping plan. The new president’s home will be located on the site where the former residence—razed two years ago for mold and structural problems—sat for six decades.
