Staff Council sponsoring program on communication in the workplace

Delta State University’s Administrative Staff Council is sponsoring a professional development session the focuses on communication in the workplace. Carolyn Ann Sledge, instructor in communication studies, will be the featured presenter.

Sledge specializes in public speaking and interpersonal communication. She is an experienced public relations practitioner having worked in sales and marketing for over 15 years.

Attendees will have the opportunity to learn communication skills that will increase their customer service skills as well improve their ability to communicate effectively in the workplace and in their personal life.

The session is open to all Delta State employees and will be offered during two sessions. The first will be held on Nov. 20 at 10 a.m. in the second floor east lobby of the H.L. Nowell Student Union. The second session will take place Nov. 29 2 p.m. in the Simmons Room of the Hugh Ellis Walker Alumni House.

Staff Council’s Staff Development Committee is organizing the event. The committee oversees and organizes professional development opportunities for all staff, included, but not limited to, various workshops and staff development day.
