Kossman Teacher of the Year Award
Each year DSU recognizes a faculty member with the Kossman Outstanding Teacher Award. This, the top faculty honor at this university, is presented during the May commencement. Please take the time to nominate a worthy colleague for this tribute by submitting a letter that addresses the faculty member’s outstanding performance. Letters of nomination must be received in the Office of the Provost by close of business on Friday, April 14, 2017. Selection of the DSU Kossman Teacher of the Year is based on exceptional achievement as demonstrated over time (typically five years) in the areas of:
- Effectiveness as a teacher
- Ability to motivate students
- Good relationship with students in and out of the classroom
- Mentor and advisor to students
- Utilizes creativity and innovation in teaching
- Positive attitude toward teaching and toward students
- Evidence of scholarship and service that support good teaching
