Hankins senior recital set for March 30

The Delta State University Department of Music will present Michael J. Hankins in his senior piano recital on March 30 at 1:40 p.m. in the Recital Hall of the Bologna Performing Arts Center. The recital is free and open to the public.

Hankins, a senior music education major from Grenada, is the son of Johnny and Sally Hankins. He studies with Dr. Jung- Won Shin, associate professor of music.

Since entering Delta State in 2013, he has been involved with Delta State Chorale, Chamber Choir, Collaborative Piano, African Drumming Ensemble and World Percussion Ensemble, and teaches in the Delta State Piano Preparatory Program. Hankins has served as an accompanist and collaborative pianist for many choirs, vocalists and instrumentalists, and has served as an assistant conductor of Delta State Men’s Choir. He is currently serving as an assistant conductor of Delta State Women’s Choir.

Hankins will be performing works by Ludwig Van Beethoven, Franz Peter Schubert and Joaquin Turina.
