The 2014 short blends family saga and American history, with the Mississippi Delta playing a key setting and the Mississippi Delta Chinese Heritage Museum at Delta State University playing a key role.

Producer Baldwin Chiu, director Larissa Lam, and special guest Emily Jones, curator of Mississippi Delta Chinese Heritage Museum and Delta State University archivist, will host a live video Q&A at 7 PM PST on May 8. They will discuss “the history of the Chinese in the Mississippi Delta, the impact of the Chinese Exclusion Act on the Chiu family, and also give a preview of our new film, Far East Deep South,” according to press materials.
