DSU music students to perform Nov. 28 recital

On Tuesday, Nov. 28 at 7:30 p.m., the Delta State Department of Music will present the Woodwind Chamber Ensembles Concert in the Bologna Performing Arts Center Recital Hall. This concert will feature chamber ensembles from the woodwind studios, including the DSU Flute Ensembles, the DSU Clarinet Quartet, the DSU Saxophone Quartet, and the DSU Wind Quintet.

The DSU Clarinet Quartet will play works by Dvorak, McKay, and Frankenpohl. Members of the ensemble are Esther Barulli, Taylor Clolinger, Emily Hercules, and Angelina Meeks.

The DSU Flute Ensemble includes Savannah Cavalier, Barbara Doorenbos, Claire Foster, Will Ghrigsby, Amanda Lutz, and April Mondy.

The DSU Saxophone Quartet will perform works by Tchaikovsky, J. S. Bach, and Stephen Foster. The ensemble includes Zech Hall, Jackson Moore, Josh Ray, and Dakota Young.

The wind quintet, performing works by Jacques Ibert and Mississippi composer William Grant Still, is comprised of Amanda Lutz, flute; Mollie Searcy, oboe; Taylor Clolinger, clarinet; Dr. Bret Pimentel, bassoon; and Jacob Jackson, horn.

The clarinet and saxophone ensembles are under the direction of Dr. Bret Pimentel, and the flute ensembles are directed by Dr. Shelley Collins. Collins and Pimentel, associate professors of music, coach the DSU Wind Quintet.
