DSU Music Department Voice and Piano Exchange Program with Sungkyul University Jan. 31-Feb. 3

The Delta State University Department of Music will host a voice and piano exchange program with students and faculty from Sungkyul University in Korea on the DSU campus from Jan. 31 through Feb. 3.
This exchange program offers joint academic, cultural, and performance activities between the students and faculty of Sungkyul University and Delta State. These exchange activities include master classes, student and faculty recitals, and other classes, as well as the participation in Delta State’s annual piano festival, The Art of the Piano.

The following performances will take place in the Recital Hall of the Bologna Performing Arts Center and are free and open to the public:

  • Thursday, Jan. 31, 1:40 PM: Sungkyul University students and DSU vocal and piano students
  • Thursday, Jan. 31, 7:30 PM: Sungkyul University faculty members, Drs. Hyunjoo Rachel Kwak and Soo Ryeon Kim, featuring works by Brahms, Youngsub Choi, Gounod, Handel, Dongjin Kim, and Obradors
  • Friday, Feb. 1, 7:30 PM: voice and piano faculty of Delta State and Sungkyul University, including Dr. Hye-Young Suh from Sungkyul University, featuring works by Gubaidulina, Joplin, Soonmi Kang, and Purcell

This voice and piano exchange program with Sungkyul University is sponsored by the Bryce Griffis President’s Endowment Fund, the Dulce Fund, the DSU Department of Music, the DSU Quality Enhancement Plan, and the DSU International Student Services.
