DSU flag lowered in memory of Mistie Barnes

The DSU flag has been lowered in memory of Mistie Barnes who passed away on Friday, August 4 at Merit Health River Oaks Center in Flowood, Mississippi.
Barnes, 41, started working at Delta State University in 2010 and was an associate professor of counselor education. She received her bachelor of arts degree in 1999 from the University of Mississippi. In 2002, she earned a master of education degree in counselor education and supervision from the University of Mississippi, and she completed her doctorate of education in counselor education and supervision from Argosy University in Sarasota in 2011.
She served as clinical editor for the Association for Play Therapy Mining Reports and on the editorial board for the Journal of Counseling and Professional Psychology.
Visitation is set for Wednesday, August 9 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Ripley Funeral Home in Ripley, Mississippi. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. on Thursday, August 10. Burial will follow at Tippah Memorial Garden.
