The National Weather Service has issued an alert through 9pm today for an enhanced risk of damaging winds up to 70mph, with tornados and quarter-size hail likely. Click here for updated weather information.
Due to these weather conditions, and out of an abundance of caution for the safety and well-being of the campus community, Delta State’s Emergency Response Team has made the decision to close campus at 3pm this afternoon, with university operations conducted remotely, where possible.
Monday night classes will meet virtually. Faculty should communicate with their students via Canvas. Students without remote Canvas access and/or loss of power will not be penalized for missing class, but should contact their instructor as soon as possible regarding the absence.
Employees are expected to work from home, as permissible, and to stay in regular communication with their supervisor.
University officials anticipate returning to normal university operations on Tuesday, March 26.
Decisions regarding scheduled athletic events will be posted on the Delta State Athletics website (www.gostatesmen.com) and social media outlets.
For the status of other scheduled university events, please contact the event’s sponsor.
