Delta State University Raises Awareness and Funds for Artists in Central America April 10-12

By April 9, 2019

April 10-12 from 9 AM to 2 PM on the first floor of the student union, Delta State University will be selling handwoven bracelets, or pulseras in Spanish, to empower the artists who make them in Nicaragua and Guatemala.

The sale was organized through the Pulsera Project, a fair trade nonprofit organization that “educates, empowers, and connects Central American artists with students in more than 2,500 U.S. schools through the sale of the colorful handwoven bracelets,” according to its website.

Student and teacher volunteers raise funds that benefit fair trade jobs, worker rights, sustainability, and education, while learning about the culture, lives, and struggles of Central Americans.
