Delta State University will fly the American flag at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Oct. 6 to honor the 38th National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service. Ninety-two firefighters died in the line of duty in 2018 and 27 firefighters died in the line of duty in previous years.
In 2001, President George W. Bush approved legislation—Public Law 107-51—that requires the U.S. flag to fly at half-staff on all federal buildings to honor fallen firefighters.
