Delta State University will fly its flags at half-staff May 30-31 to honor former longtime U.S. Sen. Thad Cochran from Mississippi. The 10th longest-serving senator in U.S. history, with some four decades in office, he died on May 31 at age 81. Cochran was first elected to the Senate in 1978; he resigned last year, citing poor health.
