Department of Music presents Pimentel in faculty recital

The Delta State University Department of Music will present Dr. Bret Pimentel, associate professor of music, in a faculty recital Aug. 25 at 7:30 p.m. in Jobe Auditorium.

Pimentel will perform on a variety of woodwind instruments. He will be joined by by guest musicians Jim “Fish” Michie (piano/keyboards), Barry Bays (string bass/electric bass), and Dr. Ben Arnold (drum set). Michie is a DSU alumnus and a professional musician in the Nashville area. Bays is an instructor at DSU’s Delta Music Institute. Arnold is an associate professor of music at Mississippi Valley State University.

The program will include jazz music in a variety of classic and contemporary styles, including music by Duke Ellington, Herbie Hancock, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Chick Corea, Wayne Shorter and Antônio Carlos Jobim.
