DSU and Cleveland Animal Shelter partner for Walks and Wags event

CLEVELAND, Miss. — Delta State University’s Collegiate Rec and Wellness, in collaboration with the Cleveland Animal Shelter, has announced Walks and Wags, an event celebrating National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day. Join us on April 30th from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. on the quad for a day filled with furry fun and community spirit.

Walks and Wags is an opportunity for individuals and families to enjoy quality time with shelter pets while supporting a great cause. Take a stroll with a shelter pup, participate in engaging activities, and capture precious moments with our beloved Statesmen and Fighting Okra mascots. Plus, you can treat your favorite shelter pets to delicious $2 pup cups! Don’t forget to bring your camera for unforgettable photo opportunities.

In addition to the festivities, attendees can enter our adoption prize drawing for a chance to win one Free Super Chewer Box from Bark.com. Every adoption not only changes the life of a shelter pet but also enters you to win this amazing prize. As a special treat, the first 25 attendees will receive a free Walks and Wags shirt while supplies last.

Kyle Partridge, Assistant Director of Collegiate Recreation and Wellness, expressed excitement for the event, saying, “Today marks an exciting milestone for Collegiate Rec and Wellness as we kick off the preparation of our inaugural event, Walks and Wags. We’re immensely grateful to the Cleveland Animal Shelter and Delta State University for their partnership and support in making this event possible. This collaboration is just the beginning of our journey towards building meaningful relationships and connections with the Cleveland community. We’re committed to fostering a sense of unity and compassion, and we look forward to many more opportunities to make a positive impact together.”

Let’s come together to make a difference in the lives of shelter pets and celebrate the joy they bring to our lives. See you there!
