DSU Finance Major Goad Wins Mississippi Banker’s Association Award

Tyler Goad is this year's recipient of the Mississippi Banker's Association Education Foundation Leadership Scholarship

CLEVELAND, Miss. — Delta State University Junior Finance major Tyler Goad has been selected to receive the Mississippi Banker’s Association Education Foundation Leadership Scholarship. This $2,000 scholarship is presented to a junior banking or finance major at a state-sponsored university. MBA awards two major scholarships each year to Mississippi banking/finance students. This year, DSU students have won both awards. In March, DSU senior Keshawn Jennings won the Orrin H. Swayze Scholastic Award, receiving a $5,000 scholarship.

Goad is a junior from Tupelo and is a defender on the DSU soccer team. The award was presented at the Mississippi Young Banker’s Conference on September 19 in Flowood. Applicants are nominated by their finance/banking professors.

Dr. Lisa Cooley, Interim Assistant Dean of the DSU College of Business and Aviation said, “We are so proud of our students in the College of Business and Aviation. It’s great when students like Tyler and Keshawn get to compete with students from much larger schools. The fact that DSU students have been selected for back-to-back awards with Mississippi Banker’s Association speaks to the quality of our students, faculty, and programs. We know that DSU produces quality graduates and does an excellent job of preparing students for the workforce. This just further confirms what we already knew, that DSU students are among the best around.”
