DSU Honors Recital Performers Announced

CLEVELAND, Miss. — The Delta State University Department of Music will celebrate excellence in performance, scholarship, alumni achievement, and program support at its annual Honors Recital on Monday, April 17, at 7:30 p.m. in the DP&L Theater at the Bologna Performing Arts Center.

Four music majors have been selected to perform at the event based on a performance audition and GPA. The event will also feature the induction of Pi Kappa Lambda honor society members, the recognition of special music scholarship recipients, and the announcement of the DSU Music Alumni of the year.

Tiko Jones, a senior vocal performance major from Horn Lake, will perform “Ombra mai fu” from Serse by G.F. Handel and “Joshua Fit the Battle of Jericho” by Harry Burleigh. Cameron Sullivan, a senior music performance major on piano from Ama, La., will play “Concert Etude, Op. 40, No. 1 Prelude” by Nikolai Kapustin. Lex Johnson, a senior music education major on flute from Batesville, will perform “Hungarian Pastoral Fantasy” by Franz Doppler. Matthew Brewton, a junior music education major on tuba from Gulfport, will perform Eric Ewazen’s “Concerto for Tuba.”
