DSU Chorale to Present Final Concert

CLEVELAND, Miss. — The Delta State Chorale, conducted by Associate Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities Dr. Julia Thorn, in collaboration with faculty pianist Dr. Kumiko Shimizu, will give their final concert for the academic year Thursday, April 13 at 7:30 p.m. in the Bologna Performing Arts Center.

“This concert will feature our graduating seniors as they give their all in their final concert as a DSU undergraduate student,” said Thorn.

Chorale’s program of contemporary music features works of Korean, Norwegian, and African American composers. Senior students Tiko Jones and Latoya Calhoun will share their talents on the podium leading pieces that are their final exam for the Advanced Conducting class.

 

Thorn said, “Chamber Singers this semester is comprised of some of the most talented male singers in the Department of Music. Their diverse repertoire is comprised of music from the Renaissance, Classical and Contemporary periods of music history while concluding with a spiritual and a well-known pop tune.

This concert will feature graduating seniors as they share their gifts in their last concert as a DSU undergraduate student.

This concert is free and open to the public.
