DSU Senior Finalist for Young Bankers Scholarship

CLEVELAND, Miss. — The Mississippi Young Banker’s Association has selected Keshawn Jennings, a senior finance major in the College of Business and Aviation at Delta State University as a finalist for the Orrin Swayze Scholarship Awards. Five scholarship finalists from Mississippi universities are invited to the Mississippi Young Banker’s Convention in Point Clear, Ala., in March each year. One finalist will receive the Swayze Medallion and a $5,000 scholarship; all finalists will receive a $1,500 scholarship.

Jennings, a senior from Marietta, Ga., came to Delta State as a freshman to play football. During his time at DSU, Jennings was named to the Dean’s List from 2020-2022, was selected as team captain in 2022 and garnered honors for All-Gulf South Conference First Team in 2022 and All-GSC Second Team in 2021. The four-year starter works on campus in the Student Success Center, assisting students who need academic support. He also worked as a cashier at Kroger for four years and is an active volunteer on campus and in the community.

“Keshawn is a leader,” said DSU Head Football Coach Todd Cooley. “He is a bright young man who always handles himself with class. He is deserving of this award.”

The scholarship awards are presented to outstanding college seniors studying banking and finance at state-supported universities in Mississippi. The Swayze Awards recognize students who exemplify the high academic standards and character of Orrin H. Swayze, a widely respected Mississippi Banker.
