CLEVELAND, Miss.—“Pitch with a Purpose,” a competition hosted by Delta State University’s Teach For America – Greater Delta and designed to celebrate current and rising alumni-led initiatives and innovations in Arkansas and Mississippi, is open now through Feb. 12.

These innovative projects facilitate leadership, bolster opportunities for students and communities across the two states and ensure demonstrated forward progress to “One Day.”

Winners are selected by audience votes and will be announced on at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 12. Teach For America–Greater Delta is inviting the general public to participate by voting for the proposed projects listed on the Pitch with a Purpose website.

In addition to fostering innovative solutions for students and families, Teach For America–Greater Delta Executive Director Mia Meadows noted that nearly half of the entries are social entrepreneur fellows from Delta State.

“After two years in the classroom, often beginning with training at Delta State University, Teach For America program alumni (former corps members) are eager to continue making an impact across the Greater Delta,” Meadows said. “We aim to provide a platform for applicants to network, highlight, strengthen and materialize the dozens of entrepreneurial and/or social innovation initiatives that both disrupt current systems of inequity and provide pathways to economic mobility—in alignment with our 2030 goal.”

“Teach For America–Greater Delta alumni continue work to highlight what is possible in the Greater Delta and to elevate stories of impact and possibility through Pitch with a Purpose,” said Teach For America–Greater Delta Deputy Executive Director Ron Nurnberg. “This year, we are elevating these wonderful initiatives on a larger platform for the nation to engage and learn about what our alumni are up to in Arkansas and Mississippi. And we want anyone and everyone to join us.”
