CLEVELAND, Miss.- Several Delta State University organizations partnered on Sunday, Sept. 19, to host “Snow Cone Sunday” for international students.
Hosted at the Charlie W. Capps, Jr. Archives and Museum building, “Snow Cone Sunday” featured snow cones from Mac’s Shaved Ice and fun activities for international students to enjoy.
Delta State University currently has nearly 100 international students from 42 countries.
“Our International students are away from their families and social support networks, in a foreign country. We want them to feel welcome here. We want to show them that we care, ” says Zina Taran, president of the International Faculty Association.
The event was organized by the International Faculty Association (IFSA); the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Committee; the International Student Support Office and the International Student Association. Organizers also extend special thanks to Margaret Katembe, IFSA; Michelle Johansen, DEI Coordinator; Amber Hays, International Student Support Services; Emily Jones, Department of Archives and Museums; and Zaida Laventure, Isabelle Larsen and Nick Leger of the ISA.
