By December 4, 2020Uncategorized

Delta State University’s 3rd Annual #GivingTuesday fundraiser totaled a record-high of $316, 555—the University’s most successful campaign to date.

Hosted this year on Dec. 1, #GivingTuesday is a global day of giving held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving.

This year’s fundraiser, themed “Proud to be a…Statesmen, Fighting Okra or Both”, encouraged students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends of Delta State to showcase their school pride by supporting DSU’s #GivingTuesday campaign.

Supporters donated towards 12 DSU academic and athletic programs and the University’s Annual Fund, with this year’s total showing a major increase in contributions compared to previous campaigns.

“I am very thankful for the support our community of alumni and friends have given DSU this year—we are truly blessed,” said DSU’s Vice President of University Relations and External Affairs Rick Munroe. “Also, thank you to the DSU Foundation staff and the hours of hard work preparing for this year’s giving Tuesday.”

#GivingTuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past nine years, this idea has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.
