Delta State University Staff Council-Incentive and Recognition Committee celebrated the 2019 Employee of the Month honorees on Jan. 27 at Papa Roc’s Italian Grill in Cleveland.
Employee of the Month distinction is given to a staff member who has provided service that is considered over and beyond those duties outlined in his or her job description. Nominations are submitted by colleagues on campus. Made up of volunteers from Staff Council, the Incentives & Recognition Committee meets monthly to review nominations for the Employee of the Month award. The committee has been celebrating staff performance in this manner for more than 20 years now. University Archivist Emily Jones serves as chair of the Incentives and Recognition Committee. Dr. James Robinson has been a very dedicated supporter to this committee for several years now. He also is honored/recognized at this annual event as a token of appreciation.
“The Incentives and Recognition Committee hosts this annual event as a way to say thank you one more time to a year’s worth of dedicated employees who not only bring joy and enthusiasm to their working environment daily but also are encouraging to their coworkers and those they encounter. You can never thank a person enough for putting their heart into the work they do,” said Jones. “This is also an opportunity for us all to celebrate Dr. Robinson on the occasion of his birthday. Dr Robinson began contributing to this account more than two decades ago as a way for him to help staffers know they are appreciated. His compassion for others is inspiring.”
Delta State’s Staff Council serves as a liaison between the administration and the staff to provide a formal process for staff to discuss issues involving university policies and procedures and to forward ideas, recommendations, and opinions to the president.
