Joining President LaForge is Mike Nienaber, the 16th head coach of Delta State men’s basketball.
Last month, Delta State announced the addition of Mike Nienaber to our athletic department, as the new head coach of the Statesmen men’s basketball team. Coach Nienaber is one of the NCAA DII’s most successful head coaches. Here are some numbers on the newest member of the DSU Family.
- Coach Nienaber is the 16th head coach of men’s basketball.
- His 593 career wins rank 11th among all active NCAA Division II head coaches.
- In his illustrious 20-year career at Christian Brothers, he amassed a 351-224 record, winning two Gulf South Conference championships and the 2009 South Region championship.
- He has been awarded the GSC Coach of the Year three times, and he was the recipient of the 2009 National Association of Basketball Coaches South Region Coach of the Year honor.
