Delta State University’s Robert E. Smith School of Nursing ranked third as most affordable for online doctorate in nursing programs, according to Best Value Schools, a website that compiles prices of institutions of higher learning.

Delta State University has some of the lowest tuition rates in the Hospitality State,” wrote Best Value Schools. The website also indicated the small student-to-faculty ratio of 14:1. Twenty-seven schools were cited in the list.

“Once again, we are excited for this recognition of providing high quality education at an affordable cost,” said Dr. Vicki Bingham, dean of the School of Nursing. “The faculty and staff members of the Robert E. Smith School of Nursing work diligently to ensure students are provided a variety of learning opportunities through online and clinical experiences to make them safe and competent healthcare providers.”

Delta State’s School of Nursing offers BSN, RN-BSN, MS, and DNP degrees, along with a post-master’s certificate. Content is delivered face-to-face and online, with clinical experiences offered in various healthcare facilities throughout the Delta and across the state. Learning experiences are enhanced through simulation via high-tech fidelity labs, exam rooms, and computer software. Currently, 95 percent of BSN graduates have passed the NCLEX-RN exam and 92 percent of graduates from the MS and DNP programs have passed the Family Nurse Practitioner Certification exam.
