Fireside Chat – November 5, 2018 – Homecoming

Joining President LaForge are Amanda Robinson, director of alumni affairs, and Charlie King, president of the Student Government Association, to tell us about some of the activities planned for Delta State’s 86th annual Homecoming.

Homecoming is a time-honored tradition at Delta State. Here are some fun facts about one of everyone’s favorite events of the year.

  • Eight distinguished alumni will be honored on November 9, including Outstanding Alumnus of the Year, the Alumni Hall of Fame inductees and the Service Awards winners.
  • Nine young women will be introduced as Homecoming maids with one being crowned Miss Green and White at halftime of the football game.
  • 53 groups participated in the Homecoming parade last year, and 89 will participate this year.
  • The Statesmen football team is 54-29-1 in Homecoming matchups. They will face off against in-state rival Mississippi College for the 39th time in program history, and the Statesmen hold a 21-15-2 advantage in the all-time series versus the Choctaws.
  • 6,555 people attended last year’s Homecoming football game.
