Critically Acclaimed John Prine – Performs Live at the Bologna Performing Arts Center

John Prine will perform live in concert at a sell-out performance on Thursday, Oct. 25 at 7:30 p.m. with special guest Valerie June at the Bologna Performing Arts Center at Delta State University.

A two-time Grammy-winner as well as being named the 2018 Americana Awards Artist of the Year, Prine is among the English language’s premier phrase-turners. Almost 50 years into a career that has drawn effusive praise from Bob Dylan, Kris Kristofferson, Bonnie Raitt, Roger Waters, Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen, and other musicians, Prine is a smiling, shuffling force for good.

He is a Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame member and a PEN New England Lyrics Award recipient whose classic debut album, simply titled John Prine, is recognized as part of the Recording Academy’s Grammy Hall of Fame. His songs have been recorded by Johnny Cash, Carly Simon, Bette Midler, Bonnie Raitt, Norah Jones, George Strait, Miranda Lambert, Zac Brown Band, and many others.

Prine’s critically acclaimed new album, The Tree of Forgiveness, debuted at #5 on the Billboard 200 chart with more than 54,000 equivalent albums sold in its first week. In this album, “all his roots merge,” praises National Public Radio. “He may be singing about going to heaven, but his earthiness keeps his music alive.”

The landmark album and tour follow a noteworthy 2017, which included an Artist of the Year award at the Americana Music Honors & Awards and a Chicago/Midwest Regional Emmy Award for his “Chicago Voices” performance with Renée Fleming.

Tickets to John Prine with special guest Valerie June are sold out. For more information on upcoming performances, visit www.bolognapac.com or call 662.846.4626.
