Cultural comedy hosted by QEP

Delta State University’s Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) is hosting Qurrat Ann Kadwani to perform her one-woman show, “THEY CALL ME Q,” April 6 at 7 p.m. in Jobe Hall Auditorium.

The show, written and performed by Kadwani, is the story of a girl from Bombay, India growing up in the Boogie Down Bronx who gracefully seeks balance between the cultural pressures brought forth by her traditional parents and wanting acceptance into her new culture.

Along the journey, she transforms into 13 characters who have shaped her life — including her parents, Caucasian teachers, Puerto Rican classmates and African American friends.

Laden with heart and abundant humor, “THEY CALL ME Q” speaks to the universal search for identity experienced by immigrants of all nationalities.

Along with being an actress, Kadwani is a producer, emcee, television host and philanthropist. Visit http://qkadwani.com/theycallmeq/ for more information on the performance.

Delta State’s Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP), “A World Class Experience: Improving Cultural Competency at Delta State,” is a five-year plan to improve aspects of student learning. The university’s focus is geared toward boosting cultural competency. Learn more at https://www.deltastate.edu/qep.
