The Delta State University Alumni Association recently named Amy Scott as the president of the Student Alumni Association (SAA). Scott is a rising senior from Tupelo who is majoring in Speech Pathology. She will lead the SAA for the 2013-2014 academic year.

“We are pleased to have Amy Scott take the helm of the Student Alumni Association. She has proven to be an asset within the organization. SAA is important because strong student leaders traditionally grow into strong alumni leaders,” said Jeffrey Farris, director of Alumni Affairs.

The SAA is a bridge between the Delta State student body and the Delta State University Alumni Association. Scott will work with the National Alumni Association President Richard Myers, who recently spoke to incoming transfer students and their parents at orientation about joining SAA. The organization helps the Alumni Association with projects such as Pig Pickin’ and Homecoming, and is also very active in community service.

The SAA sponsors a scholarship available for an upcoming senior student that has shown outstanding leadership while being a member of the organization.
