Delta State to present Veteran’s Day celebration, Nov. 11

As part of the ongoing Year of Cleveland celebration, The Charles W. Capps, Jr. Archives and Museum, in collaboration with the Delta State University history department, will present a Veterans’ Day celebration on Friday, Nov. 11 at 7:30 a.m. on the steps of the Capps Building on DSU campus. 

The short program honoring the veterans of this country will include music provided by Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonians and a presentation by Dr. Bo Morgan, Chair of the Delta State history department. 

Artifacts from the archival permanent collection such as a uniform, letters and photographs from the Paxton Family collection; correspondences from the Virginia Thompson collection; photographs from WWI and WWII of the Hill-Cassibry-Smith collection; and “Dear Boys” wartime letters will be  on display in the Capps building lobby.

Coffee and muffins will be provided and the program is free and open to the public.

Regular Archives and Museum hours are as follows: Monday – Thursday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Friday, 8 a.m.- 4 p.m.  The Archives and Museum is closed each weekday from 12 noon – 1 p.m.
