The Delta State University Marching Band and choirs along with students, faculty and staff joined on the Delta State quadrangle for the singing the National Anthem as the DSU Police Dept. raised the American flag. The DSU Department of Music sponsored the public singing of the Star Spangled Banner, the U.S. National Anthem, to coincide with a celebration of the anniversary of the writing of the text to this song.
The event was held in conjunction with a national awareness campaign sponsored by The National Association for Music Education, a national professional organization, of which Delta State has a student chapter and several faculty are national members. The event was held at the flag plaza located at the north end of the Delta State Quad.
