“Saturdays in the Park” volunteers are readying with their paint brushes, glue sticks and tap shoes, as the group preps for this weekend’s coming events in Fireman’s Park.
Scheduled for Saturday, October 31, the afternoon will feature an “Arts & Music” theme and is expected to run from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.
There is an alternate site should inclement weather become an issue. We will move to Wyatt Gymnasium on the campus of Delta State University.
There will be collaborative and instructed art activities designed for Pre-K thru 8th grade students, as well as games, treats and balloons.
Main stage entertainment will begin at 1 p.m. with an African Drumming Group, followed by the wildly popular Mr. Watermelon Head at 1:30 p.m. The Delta Sigma Theta sorority will be sponsoring a “Dancing with the Deltas” fitness fun routine at 2 p.m.
Also on the line-up, the Delta Music Institute will get feet tapping at 2:30 p.m.
“We are looking forward to another great event,” Chair of the Health, Physical Education & Recreation Department at Delta State University, Tim Colbert offered. “The community has been so supportive throughout, and we really think we’ve got another dynamite program planned.”
“Saturdays in the Park” is a collaborative effort between Delta State University’s College of Education and its Health, Physical Education & Recreation Department, in cooperation with the Division of Family & Consumer Sciences, the Center for Community and Economic Development, the Cleveland School District, the Cleveland Park Commission and the Leaders of Delta Health & Wellness.
