Mark to present trombone recital at Delta State

Dr. Douglas Mark, assistant professor of low brass at Delta State University, will present a trombone recital Tuesday, Oct. 27, at 7:30 p.m. in the Recital Hall of the Bologna Performing Arts Center on the campus. 

 

Mark will be assisted by Dr. Karen Fosheim on piano and harpsichord, and special guest Dr. Bret Pimentel on bassoon.

 

The program, entitled “Trombone Fantasies,” will include Malcolm Arnold’s “Fantasy for Solo Trombone,” a transcription of Robert Schumann’s  “Fantasiestücke, Op. 73” and “La Hieronyma” by Giovanni Martino Cesare, I. 

 

The second half of the performance features Eric Ewazen’s “Palmetto Suite for Alto Trombone and Piano” and concludes a work entitled “Spécial” by French composer Pierre Gabaye.

 

The recital is free and open to the public.
