The Delta State University Department of Music will present an evening of songs from around the world on Tuesday, Aug. 25, at 7:30 p.m. in the Recital Hall of the Bologna Performing Arts Center on campus.
Dr. Kumiko Shimizu, assistant professor of music, and Dr. Christopher Meerdink, assistant professor of music at Delta State, will collaborate in a performance of song literature by Charles Griffes inspired by his love of Javanese and Sundanese music.
Also represented will be songs by Jean Sibelius set in Swedish. The program will be rounded out with music of Fernando Obradors and Franz Lehar.
